Sugamuxi and its towns:
Sugamuxi has 13 towns which offer individual charm to the region. They are located in a unique place within the Andes of Colombia and are valued for their Muisca ancient culture.
Sogamoso, the capital of Sugamuxi, was (and still is) the base for the Muisca Temple of the Sun. It is known as "the Rome" or the sacred meeting place for the Muisca community.

Sogamoso, or the city of the sun, is the capital of Sugamuxi. It is also known as  or the "Rome" of the muisca culture because it was the main site to host community meetings and is home to the Temple of the Sun.

The largest town in Sugamuxi in terms of area is Aquitania which has the privilege of sharing space with lake Tota. It is renowned for its onion farms, trout fishing, and striking scenery.

Tota is a tiny town with an ancient, well-kept rural culture. It shares boundaries with lake Tota and is special for its unique Andean scenery and playa blanca, a fresh water white sand beach.

Cuítiva is  a quiet rural town with a lovely main plaza which reflects its Muisca origins. It borders the magnificent lake Tota , has access to the páramos, and is home to thermal hot springs.
